After 1st September 2021, in accordance with the current legislation*, the personal data of all guests using accommodation services in Hungary must be recorded by the accommodation provider on arrival, via document scanner, in the accommodation management software and then transferred to the “Closed Guest Information Database (VIZA), as defined by the law.

To record the data, the guest using the accommodation service must present to the accommodation provider his/ her identification card, driving licence or passport. Failure to present any documents will result in the accommodation provider refusing to provide accommodation. The accommodation provider is entitled to ask for the identification document and the guest is obligated to show it by law.
